- M.S - 1982 in physics of semiconductors, Kalinin Polytechnic Institute, Leningrad
Description:
Michael A. Reshchikov graduated from Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (currently St.-Petersburg Technical University) in 1982. His M.Sci. thesis work was entitled “Investigation of the effect of electric and magnetic fields on the photoelectric properties of the GaAs:Cr p-i-n structures”. In 1982 he was employed at Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute, Russia, where he held the full time research positions during 19 years. From the beginning of his scientific career M. A. Reshchikov specialized in experimental study of point defects in semiconductors.
In 1985-1988 M. A. Reshchikov with co-authors from the Ioffe Institute investigated manganese center in gallium arsenide and established its structure and properties. The suggested model of the center explained unambiguously many phenomena observed in experiments on piezospectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, the Hall effect and the electron-spin resonance. In 1988 M. A. Reshchikov defended his dissertation work entitled “Investigation of structure and properties of manganese center in gallium arsenide”. In 1989-1996, M. A. Reshchikov studied low-symmetry point defects in GaAs through application of uniaxial pressure and resonant excitation of defects by polarized light. Last four years turned his attention to nitride semiconductors after he was invited as a visiting scientist to the Northwestern University and later to the Virginia Commonwealth University. In the group of Prof. H. Morkoç at VCU Dr. Reshchikov investigates point defects in gallium nitride and optical properties of nitrides, their alloys and nanostructures.
M. A. Reshchikov has authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific articles.
Career:
- 1999 - Present: Research associate at Virginia Commonwealth University, VA
- 1997 - 1999: Research associate at Northwestern University, IL
- 1982 - 2001: Research Scientist at Ioffe Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia
